35-Year-Old From Nassau County Dies After Crashing Vehicle Into Box Truck

Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash on Long Island that killed a 35-year-old man.

The crash happened at about 4 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, in Melville, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

SCPD said a 2011 Mitsubishi was traveling on Route 110 when the vehicle struck a 2016 Isuzu box truck that was parked on the shoulder at Ruland Road.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, identified as 35-year-old Steven Zaug, of Massapequa Park, was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said. 

The 39-year-old Medford man who was the driver of the box truck was not injured, authorities said. 

The box truck was inspected at the scene, and the Mitsubishi was impounded for a safety check, SCPD reported.
